Licensing Engineering Manager
About the Job
THAT Corporation is currently seeking a Licensing Engineering Manager for the overall management and direction of engineering development and support activities associated with our Audio IP licensing business, Total Sonics. The Licensing Engineering Manager is also responsible for managing the quality of all our licensing product offerings. The Licensing Engineering Manager is expected to spend about half of their time in management activities and half in development DSP code, supporting software, and audio processing algorithms as appropriate. Direct experience with audio DSP and critical listening is a must.
Primary Responsibilities
Management
- Direct engineering development activities, including managing programs, and generating, monitoring, and managing schedules.
- Respond to customer requests for support, directing engineers to investigate performance issues, supporting our overall effort with this technical work, and reporting to customers regarding our
- Look out for new tools and methods which the company can or should When appropriate, lobby for their use.
- Prepare budgets for the licensing engineering
- Liaise with other engineering departments, especially including IC development engineers and
- Identify patentable technology; oversee the patent application and prosecution Work with inventors and patent attorneys.
New Licensing Technology Development
- Identify, investigate, and lobby for the development of new digital technologies that would enhance THAT’s digital technology licensing program.
- Develop those new digital technologies, as agreed
- Develop DSP code and other software to support THAT’s digital technology licensing
- Evaluate new code for both objective performance and subjective audio quality
Existing Licensing Technology
- Maintain DSP and other code in support of THAT’s digital licensing
- Assume responsibility for our evaluation process for new code as well as licensee’s
Technical Support for New and Existing Licensing Technology
- Assist in training new licensees in understanding and applying our licensed digital
- Provide technical support to our digital technology licensing sales/marketing
Job Requirements
Education and experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- 5+ years of related experience
- DSP (C and assembler) coding experience
- Direct experience with audio DSP
- Experience providing strong related technical support
- Prior management experience
- Some familiarity with other higher-level languages such as C++, C#, or Java
- Familiarity with cloud-based processing is desirable
- Familiarity with HDL/Verilog is desirable
